Since I never got the post finished for last month, I'm combining. July and August into one blog post Many fun things happened this summer! We did lots of backyard training in agility, nosework, obedience, rally and did some fun swimming in a friend's pool!

The only July trial was UKC SHED hunting! We participated in a 3-day trial and earned three qualifying legs toward a UKC SHED title!  He had to locate and bring back to me 4 shed antlers hidden in an area the size of a football field!  He was a little distracted the third day but went right back to work after clearing the field of a bunny's nest! 😳🤣 Finding antlers is one of his favorite things to do and I often hide them as a reward for doing other things that are not so exciting!

The highlight of August was the IABCA conformation show where Mookie earned the National Championship title and also the Honors Championship title. This means that he got a total of nine V ratings (the highest) under 9 Judges in 2023-2024. This is the highest rating that a dog can get from individual judges, some of whom are international. Dogs are judged based on the breed standard from the home country which, in Mookie's case, is Hungary. However, we had decided prior to this show that conformation is not our thing so this was a nice way to end the adventure into the world of show dogs!  Off to focus on the performance sports which we think are way more fun!

Around the neighborhood!
Mookie has a new friend!!  Winnie, the Bernese Mountain Dog, who passed in July had an owner who sorely missed the morning walks with her so he asked if he could walk Mookie!!!  Several times a week, at 7:30am, he stops by the house and together they walk down the country road!  About an hour later I get a text to come get him at their home!  And the best thing is that Mookie LOVES it!!
