UKC Nosework trial at Camp Bandy and AKC Scent Work at the Fond du Lac Fairgrounds

A great 2 weekends of sniffing where Mookie finished the titles listed above. We are working our way up the AKC/UKC ladder slowly at one level a year!  I think this has been a great foundation for him and will allow us to have lots of sniffing to do over the years!

A NEW carting harness that will match any decorations I may put on him for holidays!!

Pulling a cart is essentially an obedience thing. Obedience is something we do pretty often along with rally, but when you have a cart behind you, it's definitely a lot more challenging and, it's on grass, which he really is having a challenge with right now because he is a two year old boy! I don't think he's really sold on the whole dress him up with a harness and pull a cart thing. But you know what, he likes the attention!

Flyball and have you ever heard of Scent Hurdle Racing?

We started training with a flyball team ever so slowly learning a little bit at a time! I spent two days at the beginning of June at an event and learned a whole lot about what happens during the races! He got to watch some things happening but it's a long, drawn out process to train it correctly to manage all the dogs on the team. The jury is still out on whether we'll actually do it or not, but we're having fun and practice it at home.

Scent Hurdle Racing is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Dogs race over a series of three or four hurdles to a scent box which contains four dumbbells. The dog retrieves a specific numbered dumbbell and returns to the owner, upon which the next dog on the team is immediately released for their turn. It's mostly in Canada right now, but there are some people in the United States doing and training it!

Swimming!

We started swimming on a regular basis at a private pool with two labs! What fun Mookie is having!  He goes down the ramp and retrieves but he doesn't want to jump off the dock at this point! The big accomplishment this summer is that he no longer wears a life jacket and it's not a problem!:)

We still participate in Frisbee League on Monday night, and have done some Barn Hunt runs practice.  But the most favorite of all, I think, is doing backyard agility and obedience every single day, multiple times and finding a shed antler on occasion is just icing on the cake!
