2022.8 August Summer Days

Titles earned this month (hopefully this will be a regular heading!) :

    • VHMP   (Virtual Home Manners Puppy)
    • VHMA (Virtual Home Manners Adult)
    • TKN  (Trick Dog Novice)
    • TDI  (Trick Dog Intermediate)

August started off with the IABCA Conformation Show and the best thing is to just link to the details!

  

Then, about the same time, the Hungarian Kennel Club released Mookie's paperwork after sitting on it for a month so now I'm able to apply for an AKC and UKC registration number!  This means that he can start doing age appropriate activities (manners, tricks, scent work) and earn some titles!

  

AKC...  most communication with the AKC takes forever or never happens.  Not this time.  4 working days after I emailed them the application for a number I got it!  (subject to final verification but nevertheless, we can get started!  On what, you ask?  Manners and Tricks titles!!  Click here for that journey! 


We've been regularly practicing Scent Work and now that he is registered with the UKC and AKC I've entered him in trials in September and October.  Links to photos and videos from this post.

Mookie had his intro into DOCK DIVING this month. Laura Brock from Country Paws Canine Athletic Center played tug with him up and down the ramp and then he'd run out and play tug with me.  I could tell he had fun because as we left he was barking at the dogs ON the dock as if to say "hey, why aren't I up still up there"!

 

AGILITY continues to happen.  He's come a long way but it's all fun for him and next year we'll see where we're at and what happens then.  More here. 

So, to sum it up:
  • Every day we play some..  tugs, balls on a rope, disc toss...
  • Every day we train some...  heeling, platforms, circles, spins...  you know the stuff that could be used in obedience and rally..
  • Every day we walk some..  plan to start the AKC Fit Dog program in September...
  • Every day we cuddle some...  because Mookie is a super, friendly, affectionate puppy!
