IABCA Conformation Shows

The International All Breed Canine Association of America (IABCA) began more than twenty years ago with the intent of making an International Championship Title available to the American public while not exposing the dogs to the danger and inconvenience of international travel.

International Dog Shows are held in accordance with the regulations and guidelines that have been established by IABCA. These guidelines provide for a WRITTEN CRITIQUE FOR EACH DOG ENTERED and a rating number of how well the dog conforms to the breed standards. These standards are based on the 'country of origin' for each breed, if possible.

And the journey begins (in reverse order)

2022.8.7-8

Mookie's first adventure in the world of CONFORMATION shows started with this organization. Because the Badger State Sieger (as it's called in Wisconsin) is held at the Winnegamie Dog Club 20 minutes from my house, I had no excuse and had to enter it!!  Mookie was born February 9, 2022 so he was just under the 6 month age limit and was in the Baby Puppy class.

  • In the 1st show on Saturday, he won Best of Breed, 1st in Group (Herding) and then took Best in Show of all the puppies under a year old!
  • In the 2nd show on Saturday, he won Best of Breed and then took 2nd in the Herding Group for puppies.
  • In the 1st show on Sunday, he won Best of Breed and 1st in Group but didn't place in the Best of Show.  This 3rd show also had an award for the Best in Show Rare Breed Puppy which he also won!
  • The 4th and last show was like the 3rd where he took Breed and Group but did not place in the Best of Show.

He was evaluated by 5 different judges throughout the weekend and received the highest rating (SG-1) from each which is the highest rating he can receive at his age!!

Note:  Sehr Gut or Very Good (SG): Very good structure. It is the highest rating a dog can get in a show until it has met all the requirements listed to receive a V rating!

Based on these consistent ratings, he earned the following IABCA titles:

  • National Baby Champion (NatBACH)
  • International Baby Champion (IntBACH)
  • Honors Baby Champion (HBACH)

Not bad for his first show ever!! :)
