What is a title, really? (...a must read!)

Mook started off the month by getting the AKC Virtual Scent Work Beginner title.  These titles, rather than having the dog search for essential odors, require a ball, toy and treat to be found.  We videotaped the 2 required searches for all three levels and sent the beginner videos off to the AKC.  After that certificate arrived I sent the second level videos, called the intermediate level, off to the AKC.  We're still, after 30 days, awaiting a response from regarding for that title.  When it arrives, the experienced level will be submitted. It was a blast setting up the searches but figuring out which rooms in the house and which areas outside would work for the different levels.  Then my friend, Mary Ann, happily, in 20 degree with a wind chill weather, videotaped the runs!   Then we put odor out and did the searches all over again. 

  

Mookie participated in his second AKC conformation show and, again, being the only Mudi, won Best of Breed, 1st place, Best of Breed Owner Handler and Winners. The show held by our local dog club was at a Fairgrounds only 15 minutes from home and was a great experience for him!  Click here for more details and here for photos!

 

The second title Mookie got was the AKC Canine Good Citizen title!  We'll be doing the Advance and Urban CGC titles soon along miscellaneous others (AKC ATT, UKC SPOT and maybe even get certified as a therapy dog).  He loves training obedience and rally exercises and will most likely do some virtual titles with the goal of in person events next fall and winter. 

And I'm going to finish with this. Mookie loves his Giggle Ball more than any other toy and runs outside to play with it!! When he can't find it, a large container appears to be a good substitute. He also loves charging through the snow even without the ball! 

 

   


And small balls..  new favorite is his Chuckit ball!  It was outside so I told him to go get it and he did!

There is fun to be done!
There are points to be scored.
There are games to be won.
And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all.
